On Friday 29th May, Marrickville Legal Centre hosted its biggest and most exciting Table Tennis Tournament yet.
The evening began with lively team walk-ins announced by Strategic Partnerships Manager Tu Le. Each team entered the hall to its own introduction song, with indoor fireworks and a fog machine adding to the atmosphere.
Nineteen teams competed across five rounds, leading to a thrilling final between Marrickville Legal Centre’s Daniel Graf and Ethnic Community Service’s Alex Poulikakos. In the end, Alex from the Tapas and Tzatziki Smashers rose through the ranks to become our fourth Table Tennis Tournament champion.
Because of the generosity of our pro bono partners and community, we raised $12,449 for our Youth Legal Service, making this our most successful Table Tennis Tournament yet! The support we received on the night will help keep this vital service running for vulnerable young people across NSW so they can continue to access free legal help, support, and advocacy when they need it most.
On behalf of everyone at Marrickville Legal Centre, we would like to extend our gratitude to the law firms, partners, organisations, spectators, staff, friends, and family who joined us for this special event and helped us raised more than $12,000 for our Youth Legal Service.
A big thank you goes out to Addi Road for lending the Gumbramorra Hall space, their delicious catering, and their continued support of our Centre. We would also like to thank the NSW Veterans Table Tennis Veterans Association, who take time out of their busy schedules every year to support the Table Tennis Tournament.
